Ration Book Year - Day 11

Today I have broken all my rules again. I really don't know whether to quit or not.

I really don't want to because I don't like to fail at things.

I've been trying to take inspiration from people who 1930s/1940s lifestyles 24/7.
For instance Juffrouw Jo Hedwig Teeuwisse. Who I've seen on some youtube videos like this one,

Off subject but I am in love with her flat it is just perfect.

I would love to live like her but I think my problem is that I live with other people who aren't old-fashioned like me and still use modern things and eat modern food.
I'm not trying to make excuses for myself but I think that is the reason this is so hard.

I really was determined not to fail.
I am very frustrated.

That's why I haven't done any videos diaries over the past 2 days.

I think on Monday I am going to start again. I am going to plan my finances and write meal plans. I will also do as much craft as I've been meaning to do over the past year. I will listen to my records. I will watch 2 hours of Television a week (this can be a film or a program).

I just think I didn't plan this out before I started it. I thought i knew what I was going to do but I didn't.

So ta ta for now!

  1. Don’t be disheartened missy- you can do it! It’s going to take a while to get used to it and I’m sure planning your meals will help a lot too. Plus you do have it a bit harder, as like you said, you have family around you still living as 'normal’. Just a thought…. Could you pretend to go to a British restaurant now and then? This could mean just a meal with your family?! I wouldn’t class this as cheating and may help to keep the spirits high!
    Anyway, keep going Ellie

  2. Don't give up, if need be, just start over at another time :)
And I thank you for the nice words but my lifestyle and apartment are far from perfect and still need plenty of work before I really live like our ancestors.

Also, even in war time, people saved up rations to spoil themselves, or... they bought something at the black market!
This can provide you with a wartime excuse to have something nice now and then. :)

    1. That is quite tempting I must say, maybe I could do it when I live on my own to make it easier.
Oh well you are doing better than me haha! I'm just in love with your apartment, you've done it so well!

Haha yes you are right, they did! Maybe I will 'save up' and get something yummy.

Thank you so much for commenting, I was so excited when I saw that you had! xx
